Rockhead Studios brings ‘Starlit Adventures’ to Kidscreen Summit

Starlit Adventures expands into 3D animation with a new series. Discover the journey from hit game to global franchise, now featured at Kidscreen Summit.

The popular game franchise enters the world of animation with a brand-new series currently in development and set to debut in the global kids’ content market.

The Starlit Adventures franchise is making its way into 3D animation with a new TV series based on the award-winning game of the same name. With over 30 million players worldwide, the franchise is expanding its universe. Chris Lykawka, founder of Rockhead Studios, based in Porto Alegre, Brazil, will present the brand’s latest projects at Kidscreen Summit, held in San Diego, USA, from February 4–7, 2024—one of the world’s most important events in the kids’ content industry.

Launched in 2015, Starlit Adventures has grown in popularity ever since. The franchise now includes four games available for PC, consoles, and mobile devices. Bo and Kikki’s journey through the fantastic world of Lowlands has also reached other formats. A new 3D animated series with 52 eleven-minute episodes, aimed at children aged five to seven, is currently in production. A pilot episode is already available online.

“Our main goal now is to go beyond the Starlit universe—bringing together comics, 3D series, animated shorts, and game sequels to create a truly unique entertainment experience,” says Chris Lykawka, CEO of Rockhead Studios. “We’re launching multiple free games that set the stage for the animated series premiere in 2025.”

Starlit brings a powerful concept to life: children as guardians of the world, exploring the lively interaction between characters on a planet filled with floating islands. The latest title, Starlit Kart (2021), attracted over five million players in its first year. The game was recently selected by the Google Indie Games Fund as one of the top 10 Latin American games. Starlit Adventures 2 is currently in development.

In animation, Starlit Toons (2022) reached TV and YouTube with a collection of 30-second 2D animated shorts, crafted for preschool audiences. Bo and Kikki also made their way into digital comics, released as a limited series available in online stores and translated into English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Chinese.
